The Ashes 2023 is expected to be one of the biggest sporting events in the calendar year.  England has been on a roll and have found ways of finding match-winners on a given day. England though can’t afford to get complacent as Aussies would have got ample practice after playing WTC final 2021-23 final

Australia would be keen to end the drought of 22 years as the Aussies haven’t won a series in Britain since 2001. The likes of Steven Smith & Marnus Labuschagne will have to do the bulk of scoring if the side wants to dictate the terms against a dangerous bowling lineup.

England’s summer plans

England kick off their summer campaign with a four-day friendly against Ireland at Lords on 1 June. They will then take on oldest rivals Australia in the Ashe Series, which begins June 16 at Edgbaston. The series comes just 17 months after the mighty Britishers lost 4-0 to Australia. But the current squad, led by McCullum and Ben Stokes, have introduced a new style of play called ‘bazball’ with good results and according to the coaches this could be the turning point of the team.

The “Bazball” approach

Under McCullum’s leadership, the side abandoned the traditional approach of playing to a draw in favor of a hyper-aggressive style of cricket. England took advantage of the  new red ball and demonstrated attacking power, winning 10 of the last 12 tests. This shift from a cautious mindset to a fearless one has rejuvenated the team and contributed to its recent success.

Raise the hurdle

The challenge for the Ben Stokes led side now is to maintain a high level and perform well under pressure. Their success came after falling out of contention for the Test World Championship final at the beginning of the 2021-2023 cycle.

McCullum stressed the importance of sticking to the strategy that worked for the team in both the Irish Test and the Ashes Series. He believes in keeping things simple, relaxed and clear-headed, especially when the stakes are high and the team has everyone’s attention.

Personnel changes in the bowling club

England’s batsmen scored quickly during their recent winning streak, but the bowling team also played a key role, taking a consistent 20 wickets. However, due to injuries and recovery needs, England will have to make some changes to their bowling offense. Unmanned Josh Tongue made his Test debut against Ireland, while Ollie Robinson and James Anderson are expected to recuperate for the Ashes.

England also miss Jofra Archer in the summer and Mark Wood’s fitness remains uncertain and playing without these player could be the ultimate challenge for entire team and the coach of the team .Despite these challenges, McCallum remains confident in the talent of the England team and says there are many options available.

Brendon McCullum’s vision

A former cricketer with a successful career representing New Zealand, McCullum brings valuable international and high-pressure cricket experience to the coaching role but he is confident enough to endure the pressure and give out his best.

McCullum compared the modern Britisher’s team to the Australian men’s team and believes England have the qualifications to compete on an equal footing with the current Test World Cup finalists. He expressed his excitement for the upcoming games, highlighting the potential for exciting encounters and magic on the pitch.

Exciting Contest on Cards

Brendon McCullum’s unwavering commitment to his attacking style of cricket sets the tone for England’s summer season. In the upcoming Ashes Series, England will aim to maintain their attacking style of play and build on their recent successes.

Despite the challenges posed by the change in bowling staff, McCullum’s confidence in the strength and quality of the team remains unwavering. Cricket enthusiasts are excited about the upcoming matches and expect some hard-fought matches and thrilling performances from both England and Australia.
