Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) faced each other in the eliminator of IPL 2024, where Rajasthan Royals took the match and sealed their berth in Qualifier 2. RCB skipper Faf du Plessis would be crestfallen as the side missed a lot of catches and run outs as well which hurt the team.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru who had a great season in the second half without losing any match showed up in playoffs and whole preparations and hard work went for a toss. Skipper Faf Du Plessis also got emotional, and Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik also got emotional after the heartfelt loss. Dinesh Karthik bid adieu to the IPL and finished with an emotional note.

Faf Du Plessis says we weren’t favorites enough

Rajasthan Royals beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the eliminator by 4 wickets and knocked out RCB from the tournament. RCB’s dream for the first trophy continues and after a great comeback they qualified for playoffs they were in the contenders for winning the trophy. On the other side, Rajasthan Royals who lost four matches in a row still played good cricket and won the match. Faf Du Plessis said:

“Extremely proud. A lot of teams – their wheels would’ve fallen off after 1 from 9. To come back like that, six games in a row takes a lot of heart and character,” Du Plessis said after the match.

“We weren’t special tonight in terms of pushing that extra 20 runs with the bat,” he added.

“With the dew coming, we felt we were short with the bat. Did think we were 20 runs shy of what was a good score,” he said.

“Credit to the boys – they fought well. That’s all you can ask for. If you look at naturally assessing the pitch and conditions, you would say it’s a 180 pitch because it was swinging upfront and was quite slow. But what we’ve found out this season, with the impact player, the par score isn’t enough anymore. Also with the dew coming in,” he added.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru will be remembered for their solid comeback in the season and Virat Kohli’s dream runs for the team as he completed 8000 runs in IPL became the first player to do so and also ended the season with the highest run-getter scoring 741 runs in 15 innings, second best season after 2016.
