Shreyas Iyer (KKR skipper) led the Kolkata Knight Riders with great finesse. Qualifying for the finals after such a commanding victory against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Tuesday, May 21 in Narendra Modi Stadium.
Shreyas Iyer‘s stellar performance with the bat was very crucial in securing the victory for KKR. Facing off against a formidable bowling attack led by Pat Cummins added even more weight to his achievement.
“Elated by the performance, the responsibility was important, and we stood for each other, extremely happy with the performances,” Shreyas mentioned.

Shreyas Iyer’s perspective on the importance of the break makes sense, particularly when considering the exhaustive travel schedule teams often have to endure during the IPL season. “The rejuvenation was important for us. When you travel so much, it’s important to stay in the present,” he said.

“Today was the day we had to maximize, we did it and that’s what we thrive on. I think the way every bowler stood up to this occasion, the way they came in and took wickets, was imperative,” he commented.
Shreyas also went on to say “The attitude and approach of all bowlers was to take wickets and they did. When you have a variety in the bowling line-up, it’s mesmerising.”

He mentioned “They have been true in terms of their work ethics, hopefully, we keep performing. It was Gurbaz’s first game and he gave an impactful start. We had to make sure we carried forward the same run rate.”
At the start of the second innings, Shreyas Iyer was asked about his fellow team member Venkatesh Iyer about their teamwork. To which he replied that Venkatesh spoke to him in Tamil while Shreyas responded back in Hindi.
Shreyas concluded by saying “I don’t know Tamil, but I understand. Venky speaks in Tamil, and I reply in Hindi. We need to be in our zone in the final and make sure we give our best.”
