Virender Sehwag, former Indian opening batsman slams Sam Curran for his unsatisfactory performance in IPL 2024. Sehwag mentioned that the mediocre performance led by PBKS all-rounder Sam Curran has made him an undeserving player. Claiming that he should not be given a place in the team.
Despite his poor performance in the previous season, the 25-year-old was kept in hold and was auctioned for a whooping INR 18.5 crore for IPL 2024. Though he managed to pull off 11 wickets in 8 IPL matches at an average of 19.18, he only bagged 152 runs, averaging only 19.00. Perhaps, PBKS’ management should hand over the reins to Jitesh Sharma, the wicket keeper batter which will allow Sam Curran to play his natural attacking game.
While Shikhar Dhawan was injured in his previous match against Rajasthan Royals, the all-rounder Sam Curran was provided with the responsibility to lead the franchise to the top. But still, Punjab has yet to win a match, since Dhawan became the skipper. The form of Liam Livingstone is also a concern for the side as he hasn’t been able to perform according to his credentials.

While speaking to Cricbuzz, Sehwag conceded that a player like Curran would not be of any good use in either batting or bowling and also he is not a match winner. Virender Sehwag was quite furious on Sam Curran for his inability to perform with both bat and ball.
“I wouldn’t keep Sam Curran as batting all-rounder or a bowling all-rounder. Because such a player is of no use, who does some batting and some bowling. Either you win the game with your batting or win the game with your bowling. Either you hit the bulls eye or you don’t perform at all,” said Virender Sehwag.
