Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were asked to bat first by Gujarat Titans (GT) in a high octane clash. GT suffered a massive defeat as they lost by the match by a huge margin of 63 runs. Shivam Dube played a belligerent knock of 51 runs in 23 balls. Shivam Dube whacked the bowlers all around the park and struck 5 gigantic sixes and 2 fours.
Ruturaj Gaikwad & Rachin Ravindra set the tone for CSK
Rachin Ravindra, the elegant left handed batter was in the beast mode as he played a swashbuckling knock of 46 runs in 20 balls and struck 6 fours and 3 sixes. The left handed batter would rue his shot selection against Rashid Khan in the 6th over of the match as he was looking in sublime touch. CSK though had a breathtaking powerplay as they scored 69 runs for the loss of 1 wicket.
Ruturaj Gaikwad got a life when he was on 0 as he was dropped by R Sai Kishore in the first slip. GT wouldn’t have thought that Ruturaj would decimate the bowlers as he scored a turbulent knock of 46 runs in 36 balls and struck 5 fours and 1 six. GT’s fielding was not up-to the mark which hurt the team.
Shivam Dube on a roll
Shivam Dube was once again targeted by bowling short ball deliveries but this time, the left handed batter played fearless brand of cricket. Shivam Dube along with Daryl Mitchell stitched an invaluable partnership of 57 runs in 35 balls which shift the momentum towards the CSK side. Dube now all of a sudden has become an inseparable part of the side, the left handed batter was intrepid against the spinners as well and now CSK have found a reliable middle order batter who can thrive in pressure situations.
Thumping victory for CSK
It won’t be wrong to say that the defending champions CSK have got all the bases covered and only time will tell whether they can win their 6th title but at the moment, they are looking quite invincible. CSK fans would be though disappointed as they haven’t seen ‘Thala’ MS Dhoni bat but even after relinquishing captaincy duties, we can see MS Dhoni setting the field and having interactions with skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and cricketers.
