Aakash Chopra praised Gujarat Titans (GT) batsman Sai Sudharsan for presenting himself as the paradigm of stability in IPL 2024. On Wednesday, April 24 Delhi Capitals set a 225-run target for Gujarat Titans. Even though Sai Sudharsan bagged 65 runs off 39 balls, the GT was snatched off the victory by restricting their score to 220/8.

GT fans would be crestfallen as the side almost pulled off a heist. The form of skipper Shubman Gill has become a concern and it won’t be wrong to say that the burden of captaincy has affected his natural fearless game. Head coach Ashish Nehra and batting coach Gary Kirsten needs to have a word with him as we are at the back end of the tournament.

Sai Sudharsan is playing extremely well- Aakash Chopra

Chopra lauded Wriddhiman Saha and  Sai Sudharsan for being steady on the ground after Gill’s early dismissal. He shared a video on his YouTube Channel, reflecting on the situation of Gujarat Titans (GT).

“Shubman Gill got out once again. Shubman Gill vs Anrich Nortje- it’s not a good story. If the captain goes, we are repeatedly saying that the batting does not have that much depth. However, Wriddhiman Saha played a courageous knock this time. Sai Sudharsan has become the second name for consistency,” said Aakash Chopra.

The former Indian opener was utterly grateful on GT’s southpaws’ gameplay against both pace and spin.

“He is playing extremely well. He plays spin well because he plays a lot of shot off the back foot. His interception points were far apart. If you delay the shot, you can play late. If you hit early, you can play towards cover. He has got that game, both on the off and leg side. He pierces the gap against fast bowling and plays with a straight bat,” he stated.

Sai Sudharsan banged seven fours and two sixes throughout his 65-run knock. He included another 82 runs for the second wicket with Saha soon after Gill was knocked off.

If he played till the end, he would have won the match- Aakash Chopra on Gujarat Titans’ David Miller

David Miller was appreciated by Aakash Chopra for his undying spirit in taking the Gujarat Titans to the path of victory.

“Saha got out and Sai Sudharsan also got out after some time. Then came David Miller. Mr Miller, Mr thriller. His numbers are very good in run chases. If he had played till the end, he would have won the match. The way he was hitting and how close he had gotten them, he would have actually won the match,” said Aakash Chopra.

Chopra further implied that Rashid Khan almost to the GT to their win after Miller was dismissed.

“However, he got out. even in the last over, it seemed like the runs would be scored. Mukesh Kumar was bowling that over and Rashid Khan was in front of him. Rashid Khan almost pulled off another heist because he had already done that in Rajasthan. You came so close, so near yet so far. That’s been their story,” he stated,

Rashid remained undisputed on 21 off 11 balls. He smashed four successful boundaries off the first two balls and hit a six on the second last delivery. Gujarat Titans needed only 19 off the last over and failed to grasp the glory.
