Although he has not publicly announced that he is going to retire after the current season but it is in the air that this can be his last season in the yellow jersey.

MS Dhoni has been exceptional this season as he has come down the order and smashed bowlers all over the park. He is batting down the order because of his injury, but can still hit a long ball. He has scored 136 runs in 10 innings with a strike rate of 226.66 which is remarkable. MS Dhoni has won 5 IPL titles for Chennai Super Kings as captain. This year he handed over the captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad signaling his last season in the whistle podu colours.

MS Dhoni’s last match will be emotional says Gavaskar

Former India cricketer legend Sunil Gavaskar says that MS Dhoni’s last match at Chepauk will be a very emotional one. Chennai Super Kings are set face Rajasthan Royals in their next encounter at the Chepauk stadium. If Chennai Super Kings do not qualify for the playoffs this could be the last match of MS Dhoni at Chepauk in the yellow jersey.

“I’d love to see him come and smash a couple of sixes. Obviously that running between the wickets with that leg won’t be there. But it’s going to be emotional, I mean as the match progresses they will know where the match is standing whether CSK is going to win or RR is going to win. I think it is going to be emotional just like when Sachin Tendulkar played his last match at the Wankhede Stadium. I just hope that MSD also goes out on a real high,” said Gavaskar on Star Sports .

All MS Dhoni fans thought that IPL 2023 would be his last but it wasn’t to be as he came back again this year to show gratitude to his fans played the game. MS Dhoni is a legend of the game and India he is worshipped as a captain and as a player. He has won 3 ICC trophies for team India and is the only captain in the world to do so.

India will truly miss his leadership and street smart work behind the stumps.
