Former Aussie batter and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batting coach Michael Hussey feels that MS Dhoni should play for more years and every fan who admires him and Chennai Super Kings is known because of MS Dhoni. The veteran wicket-keeper batter has shown that he still has the vigor and passion for the game even when reports came that he is going through severe pain in his knees.

MS Dhoni had stepped down from captaincy and handed over to Ruturaj Gaikwad this season, after this decision whole Chennai Super Kings fans felt would it be the last season of MS Dhoni. CSK’s stalwart wicket-keeper batter will be well aware of the fact that CSK can’t afford to take RCB lightly on 18th May at Bangalore as recently RCB have rediscovered their mojo.

Michael Hussey wants MS Dhoni to play

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batting coach Michael Hussey wants MS Dhoni to play more years and needs to be there for us in the future too. MS Dhoni has won 5 IPL trophies as a captain and kind of player and captain he is no one could match the level and quality of leadership he plays in Chennai Super Kings. Michael Hussey says:

“Your guess is as good as mine at this stage. He keeps his cards very, very close to his chest. We are hoping he does keep going. From a personal point of view, I hope he keeps going for another couple of years. But we will just have to wait and see. He is the only one who will make that call. And he likes to sort of build the drama a little bit as well. So I wouldn’t expect a decision anytime soon,”

MS Dhoni looked in solid touch, played quick-fire innings in death overs, and maintained a strike rate of 226 with an average of 68. Before the season commenced MS Dhoni underwent knee surgery so he is not batting up the order Michael Hussey clarifies.

“He is still batting so well. He does prepare well – he gets into the camp very early and hits a lot of balls. He has been in good touch all season. I guess we just got to try to manage him from the body side of things. He had a knee surgery after the last season. So he has been managing that from the initial stage of the tournament,” said Hussey.

“I know fans probably want to see him batting a little bit higher in the order, but that [the knee surgery] is why we have had to manage him a little bit and he only comes in at the back end. But there has been no one better in being able to come in and hit the ball so cleanly from ball one than MS. He has been phenomenal,” he added.

We all hope that he ‘definitely not’ leave IPL with a trophy in his hand, his contribution and leadership will be in our hearts forever.
