The well-established Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami expressed his melancholy on LSG skipper KL Rahul being thrashed by Sanjiv Goenka (LSG owner) publicly. Mohammed Shami felt that the latter didn’t need to create a scene so big in front of the whole crowd, after the team’s loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Wednesday, May 8.

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) were only able to amass a total run of 165/4 in 20 overs. However, Sunrisers’ openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head had a different plan. They intended to achieve the given target in no time. Hence, they both (Abhishek and Travis) snatched away their (LSG) hope of winning the match as they chased down the target in just 9.4 overs.

Mohammed Shami furious on LSG Owner

Following their defeat after the game, Sanjiv Goenka was seen having a heated argument with the LSG skipper KL Rahul. But the latter maintained his composure. While having a conversation with Cricbuzz regarding this incident, Mohammed Shami stated:

“Players have respect, and you are a respectful person, too, as you are an owner. Many people are watching you and learning from you. If these things happen in front of cameras… ye sharam ki baat hai. It’s a matter of shame,”

Even though Shami grasped the situation, he still felt that the discussion could have taken place somewhere inside the room or where there are no cameras available.

LSG owner’s video with KL Rahul sends a very wrong message: Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami was simply convinced that the LSG owner was too hyper about his team’s loss and slapped KL Rahul through his words. And what was more concerning was that the owner didn’t just thrash out at any random player but it was the captain itself. He felt that this was totally a wrong example being set by Sanjiv Goenka. On this, he mentioned:

“He’s (Rahul) the captain, too, not a normal player. It’s a team game; if the plan isn’t successful, it isn’t a big thing. Anything is possible in the game. I understand there can be good or bad days, but every player has respect, and there’s a way to talk. This sends a very wrong message,”

The Goenka group was also the owner of Rising Pune Supergiant during the 2016 and 2017 IPL editions. The then-skipper of this team, MS Dhoni also had a tough time, which led to the captaincy being passed onto Steve Smith. Now, it will be interesting to see if this scenario would affect KL Rahul’s coming times at the franchise.
