Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the defending champions will have to play out of their skin to win the championship. All eyes though will be on the fast bowling all-rounder Deepak Chahar who is making a comeback after injury. Deepak Chahar has shown that he can create a havoc with the new ball in hand.
CSK are all set to play against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the opening match of IPL 2024 edition on 22nd March at Chepauk. CSK & RCB have an intriguing rivalry as we can expect a cracker of a contest as RCB skipper Faf du Plessis is quite familiar with CSK’s bowling line up and gameplan as he was a part of CSK till 2021 edition.
Deepak Chahar has fallen off the radar- Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra was seen speaking on his You Tube channel. Aakash Chopra spoke about the lethal speedster Deepak Chahar and said that he is no longer in contention of selectors. Aakash Chopra pointed out that it is a big opportunity for Deepak Chahar to stamp his authority as he is someone who can also smash lusty blows at the back end of the innings.
“Deepak Chahar has fallen off the radar because he remained injured for some time and then wasn’t available as his father was unwell. However, now, it’s a big opportunity for him as well,” said Aakash Chopra.
Terrific bowling attack of CSK
CSK’s spinners: Ravindra Jadeja, Moeen Ali, Mitchell Santner & Maheesh Theekshana can spin a web across the batters. Another aspect of CSK having spin bowling all-rounders is that they can promote someone like Mitchell Santner too up-the order and he can change the complexion of the match.
CSK’s management would be worried though as Matheesha Pathirana is injured due to which there would be added responsibility on Deepak Chahar during the death overs. CSK will have to figure out their death fast bowlers as conceding 60-70 runs in the last 5 overs won’t keep the team in good stead.
