South African cricket team thrashed India in the 2nd T20I match. Arshdeep Singh, the left arm pacer was taken to the cleaners as his all variations were ineffective. Arshdeep Singh needs to bowl wicket to wicket and impeccable lines & lengths rather than giving ample width to the batters.
The captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav too was questionable as defending 150 odd runs in 15 overs is quite attainable in the modern cricket. Perhaps, he should have introduced Kuldeep Yadav earlier into the attack as the left arm chinaman has the knack of breaking crucial partnerships.
Arshdeep Singh’s performances have gone down since the last IPL- Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra was seen speaking on his You Tube channel. Aakash Chopra was quite worried with the performance of Arshdeep Singh and pointed out that the pacer is at the receiving end since the recently concluded Australian T20I Series. Aakash Chopra said that Arshdeep Singh has been off color since IPL 2023.
“I wanted to talk about one more thing from this match, that’s Arshdeep. Is he not proving too expensive? If you see the last series as well, he played four matches, conceded more than 40 runs in his four overs in every game, and picked up a total of four wickets,” said Aakash Chopra.
“I agree you are bowling the tough overs, at the top and the tail (of the innings), but others are also bowling. Everyone does not prove so expensive always. I am a huge Arshdeep Singh fan and I see him improving a lot but his performances have gone down since the last IPL,” he stated.
“His numbers have gone down drastically in the last six to seven months and that’s not a good thing. It’s not auguring well. We were talking about his chances of coming in the ODI World Cup squad,” he added.
“However, now we are feeling that although he is our lead bowler in T20Is, he is leaking a lot of runs. That’s something I am slightly worried about. Are you?,” he concluded.
