India national cricket team proved to the World cricket that they have a never to say die attitude. Sanjay Manjrekar was quite candid and said that the Men in Blue don’t have complacency. Sanjay Manjrekar also reflected on how Indian cricket team has fared under different skippers.

Rohit Sharma was seen having constant interactions with the bowlers and made sure that the bowling unit didn’t panic after getting whacked for a couple of back to back boundaries. England’s ultra-attacking approach gave a lot of chances to Indian spinners who weren’t afraid of giving extra flight to the deliveries.

Complacency as a trait in Indian cricket disappeared a long time back- Sanjay Manjrekar

Sanjay Manjrekar was having an interaction with ESPNCricinfo. Sanjay Manjrekar pointed out that ever since Virat Kohli took the charge of India national cricket team from the legendary and iconic skipper MS Dhoni, the spirits have never been down even under the leadership of skipper Rohit Sharma. Sanjay Manjrekar stated that there is camaraderie amongst the players and said that there is no complacency in Indian cricket.

“Complacency as a trait in Indian cricket disappeared a long time back. Post MS Dhoni, when Virat Kohli took charge of the Indian team, and when going was also tough, the spirits have never been down with that Indian team, and you see that especially when they are in the field. So, that was not going to happen,” said Sanjay Manjrekar.

Indian cricket team on a roll

Many cricket experts believed that Rohit Sharma’s team is a team to beat in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC 2023-25) cycle. The decision to pick the left arm-chinaman Kuldeep Yadav over Axar Patel bamboozled the Britishers as he took 19 wickets and was quite unplayable. Axar Patel featured in only 2 Test matches and made an impact by taking 5 wickets.

The Men in Blue have applied horses for courses technique which so far has been quite successful and the head coach Rahul Dravid would be aware of the fact that they can’t get complacent. We all have witnessed in the past how India was outclassed by New Zealand in ICC WTC 2019-21 final and by Australia in 2021-23 final and in both the instances, the Men in Blue looked off-color.
