England national cricket team would be crestfallen as their performance in all the 3 facets of the game wasn’t up-to the mark. It won’t be wrong to say that Shoaib Bashir, the right arm off-spinner was the lighting spark for the visitors. Shoaib Bashir was seen bowling to a particular gameplan which was quite attacking.

England will have to go back to the drawing board and rethink their ultra- attacking approach ‘Bazball’ if they want to win in testing conditions. There were high hopes from Ben Stokes’ side but it seemed as if they were in a hurry to score runs and entertain the world cricket and at the same time, their statements like we will chase even 600 runs as the visitors went overboard.

England don’t have world class spinners but…..- Michael Vaughan’s take on Shoaib Bashir and spin bowling attack

Michael Vaughan wrote in his column for the Telegraph. Michael Vaughan emphasized on the fact that ECB couldn’t produce world class spinners ever since the retirement of Graeme Swann. Michael Vaughan was quite dogmatic with the rise of Shoaib Bashir who took 11 wickets in the series and bowled wicket to wicket.

“They have tried to be different with their style and messaging, but ultimately if you don’t have world-class spinners – which they haven’t since Graeme Swann, although I have high hopes for Shoaib Bashir – and batsmen who can bat all day, you don’t stand a chance,” said Michael Vaughan.

“The Dharamsala Test completed an absolutely awful winter for English cricket. The World Cup was a shocker, and the white-ball team didn’t improve in the Caribbean. The U19s and the women’s team haven’t been much cop either. Not even England’s positivity PR machine can convince us otherwise,” he added.

England’s weak bowling attack

The sudden injury to the left arm off-spinner Jack Leach didn’t do any good to the Ben Stokes’ brigade. Jack Leach along with Dominic Bess were a part of 2021 Test series in India; ECB should have given a long rope to Dominic Bess as he was tipped to be the next big thing in World cricket.

ECB needs to have some serious talks with the veteran James Anderson as it’s high time for England to give chances to the youngsters. There’s no doubt that Anderson who took his 700th scalps is in the form of his life but we witnessed how he was taken to the cleaners by the dynamic right handed batters Yashasvi Jaiswal & Shubman Gill.
