Indian cricket team was completely outplayed by Australia in the final of ODI WC 2023. Rohit Sharma‘s led side couldn’t continue their winning streak which surprised everyone. Rohit Sharma got the team to a decent start but couldn’t capitalize and get a big score under his belt in the summit clash.
The Ajit Agarkar-led selection panel astonishingly have rested the senior duo of Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma for the 5 T20I match series against Australia. In the absence of Rohit Sharma, the swashbuckling batter Suryakumar Yadav will captain the side against a star studded Australian side.
Rohit Sharma literally walked the talk- Suryakumar Yadav
Suryakumar Yadav was having an interaction with the reporters ahead of the 1st T20I match against Australia. Suryakumar Yadav said that Rohit Sharma’s captaincy was quite commendable despite the side not winning the championship. Suryakumar pointed out that Rohit Sharma led by an example in ODI WC 2023
“That is one thing that will set an example for youngsters. What he has done in the World Cup was a completely different Rohit Sharma – he literally walked the talk. What was spoken in the team meetings, he did that on the ground. As a leader, he led by example and we will try to replicate the same thing,” said Suryakumar Yadav.
Stern test for India
In the absence of Hardik Pandya, the dashing batter Suryakumar Yadav would be tested. All eyes would be on Yashasvi Jaiswal, the left handed batter who has shown encouraging signs in the domestic as well as in the IPL circuit as he will have a strong chance to stake his claim in T20 WC 2024.
On the other hand, Australia would be keen to make the most of the winning run. CA have named Matthew Wade as the skipper for the series which astonished everyone. The duo of Smith & Warner will have to do the bulk of scoring in a high voltage series as both the teams are quite evenly matched.
