Taking on the Ashes 2021-22 and going on to triumph in series against Pakistan, the West Indies, and South Africa. The Pat Cummins-led Australian Team has been on a roll lately, thus making the forthcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy in India all the more appealing.

The Men in Blue are on a roll after winning 15 series back to back, they haven’t lost a single series at home since 2012 when England defeated them by 2-1. The mighty Australians would be keen to end the drought of 19 years as they had won way back in 2004.

No more spin to win?

The Kangaroos are placed firmly at the top of the World Test Rankings , however the subcontinent conditions always prove to be a struggle for the visiting foreign nations. Many former Australian players have already raised concerns over the spin wickets but Greg Chappell had a bit different opinion to share. He was seen interacting with Sydney Morning Herald and was quite optimistic on Australia’s chances.

“The Australians will have to summon every ounce of their talent and experience during the next month to succeed. India is no longer the mystery it once was. Tours are more regular and the IPL offers valuable exposure.” said Chappell.

To win, Australia must get wickets with the new ball. Spin is more of a weapon in India than in Australia, but we must always play our four best bowlers plus Cameron Green” added the Australian legend.

Concerns for Australia

The last time when the two teams met for the prestigious series in India was back in 2017 where Australia despite winning the first test could not keep up with the challenging conditions losing 2-1, while in the 2013 series was something the visitors would like to completely erase from their memories as they were whitewashed.

This time around as well the likes of Alex Carey & Travis Head will be tested against the quality of India’s spin attack led by Ravichandran Ashwin who has even kept the visitors main man Steve Smith on his toes over the years, regardless of the wicket of play.

The series would however be the ‘final-frontier’ for both the sides aiming to lift the coveted World Test Championships 2021-23 Trophy. India after finishing as runner-ups previously are placed second 115 points followed by England.
