The much anticipated India vs Australia ODI series is set to commence on the 22nd of September (*Friday) at Mohali.  BCCI have rested Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli for the first 2 ODIs which is quite tough to understand. Rohit Sharma would have got ample match practice as India’s first contest in ODI WC 2023 is against Australia on 9th October at Chennai.

ICT (Indian Cricket Team) fans would argue that the duo needs rest before the ODI WC 2023 and are at the back end of their career. We are ignoring the fact that the team that plays together wins championships. It doesn’t happen like we are going to fix our team just a couple of matches before. Taking rest that too against a champion team like Australia states how serious the selection panel & management are about ODI WC 2023

Another series lost against Australia?

In the absence of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul will lead the side and ICT fans would be hoping that captaincy doesn’t affect his natural game. We witnessed how he pummeled Pakistan’s lethal bowling line up in the Super 4 stage of Asia Cup. According to sources with knowledge it is assumed that KL Rahul would keep the wickets and Ishan Kishan would open the batting along with Shubman Gill.

India’s batters have very bad habit of throwing away the starts which hurts the tea, a lot. The likes of Shreyas Iyer & Ishan Kishan would be competing for the no,5 spot as the top order looks solid on paper.  India can’t afford to get complacent as Aussies have got a got a long battting line yo which can dismantle the opponent on the given day with their brisk strokeplay and a wide range of shots.

Questionable selection

Ajit Agarkar led selection panel should be questioned for including Ravichandran Ashwin into the Indian setup  on the 11th hour. If the veteran spinner was into the plans of selection panel, then why he wasn’t sent to West Indies’ ODI series? & Asia Cup 2023 ? At the same time, why was Sanju Samson was ignored for Australia despite  having an average of 55 in the ODI format which is still a mystery for Sanju Smason’s fans.

Verdict

We should not forget that how Aussies thrashed the Men in Blue in the 2023 ODI series and won the contest by 2-1.  Australian bowling attack comprising of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood & Pat Cummins. Apart from Josh Hazlewood. It won’t be a surprise if Mitchell Marsh is the player of the tournamenee. The flamboyant all-rounder has got brute power which can take the opponent by surprise.
