Former Indian cricketing sensation and World Cup winner, Yuvraj Singh, has conveyed his eagerness to take on a mentoring role for young cricketers in the future. Recognizing the mental challenges faced by players, particularly in high-stakes matches, Yuvraj aims to contribute by helping them develop resilience and composure under pressure.

In a statement to PTI, Yuvraj shared his aspirations, stating, “Mentoring is something I love to do. In the coming years, when my kids are settled, I want to give back to cricket and help the young guys get better.” He emphasized the significance of mental strength, expressing confidence in addressing both technical and psychological aspects of the game.

Yuvraj, known for his remarkable performances in crucial matches, particularly in the 2011 World Cup where he was awarded the Player of the Tournament, sees potential in India’s current crop of players. However, he stressed the need for a collective effort in handling pressure situations, especially in major tournaments.

“When the big moment comes, our physical preparation is there, but mentally we need to make those decisions. I think that is something I was talking about—motivating the young guys, teaching them how to handle pressure and play their game. That’s been our challenge,” remarked Yuvraj.

Reflecting on India’s recent loss in the 2023 World Cup final against Australia, Yuvraj acknowledged that certain players in the team excel under pressure. Yet, he emphasized the importance of the entire team rising to the occasion, stating, “We have the game, and we have guys who can bat under pressure, but the whole team has to do that, not just one or two guys.”

Yuvraj Singh’s wealth of experience and success on the international stage positions him as an ideal mentor to guide the next generation of Indian cricketers, not just in refining their skills but also in cultivating the mental fortitude required for success in high-pressure situations.
