When the World Test Championship chatter starts doing the rounds, one name that never seems to pop up is Bangladesh. And Aakash Chopra, a cricketer turned commentator, gave a good reason for that. The former Indian cricketer, never one to mince words, has bluntly stated that Bangladesh aren’t even in the conversation for the 2027 WTC final.
Currently languishing at fifth in the standings with a meagre 16.67% points after their 1-0 loss to Sri Lanka, Bangladesh’s Test credentials came under Chopra’s scanner in his latest YouTube dissection.

From the updated WTC table and the schedule it is evident that Bangladesh who is currently lavishing at 5th spot with 16.67 percent is due to slide down further due to the no of matches and the opposition they play. As the new session 2025-27 has started, all the teams are putting in their best to grab the two most important spots, Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra gives a shocking prediction about the chances of the Bangladesh team to grab the ticket to the final.
Aakash Chopra bluntly denies Bangladesh chances of qualifying to the Finals of WTC 2025-27
Bangla Tigers are ranked fifth in the WTC standings, with 16.67 percent. They recently suffered a 0-1 defeat in a two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. In a video posted on his YouTube channel, ‘Aakash Chopra’, the former India opener remarked that Bangla Tigers would find it difficult to compete for a spot in the 2027 WTC final.
“I won’t even talk about Bangladesh because you don’t reach at all. You don’t even come in the list. People start looking at getting points when they play against Bangladesh, especially when Bangladesh are touring. Bangladesh trouble people at home for sure,” Chopra said.
Notably, the numbers back his claims as Bangladesh have never qualified for a WTC final, finishing seventh last cycle with just 31.25% points. While Chopra noted that Bangladesh might trouble visitors at home, he also acknowledged the fact that the Bangla Tigers will be bashed by South Africa, Australia and Sri Lanka.
“Their away series are against Australia, South Africa and Sri Lanka. They will host England, the West Indies and Pakistan. They can trouble England, Pakistan and the West Indies. They might compete against Sri Lanka (they have lost the series 1-0). They will get hammered in Australia and South Africa. They might not come close to qualification again,” Chopra observed.
Well with the above discussion and conclusion , it is fair enough to say that Bangladesh until the produce a miracle finds itself a difficult chance to qualify to the WTC 2025-27 finals.
