The much-awaited ICC World Test Championship (WTC 2021-23) final is slated to take place on 7th June between India & Australia. India’s skipper Rohit Sharma had a topsy-turvy IPL 2023 when he scored 332 runs in 16 matches. Rohit Sharma looked in two minds whether to attack or defend which hampered his natural attacking game.

Australia on the other hand would be eyeing redemption after losing the BGT 2023 by 1-2. All eyes would be on the skipper Pat Cummins who took a sabbatical (*in the middle of BGT due to personal reasons) and refused to play IPL 2023 in order to be fit for the high-octane clash.

Rohit Sharma’s role will be very crucial- Dilip Vengsarkar

Dilip Vengsarkar was having an interaction with the Hindustan Times. The former cricketer gave a warning to the Rohit Sharma-led side that they can’t take the opposition lightly and said that there are no second chances in this high-voltage clash.

“Rohit Sharma’s role will be very crucial both as a captain also as an opener. He is a big match player and the occasion can’t get any bigger than this. I hope he brings his A-game to the table,” said Dilip  Vengsarkar

“I think that the fact that Rohit Sharma will be straightaway coming to the Test match from T20s might be a bit of an issue. I wish they had a few practice games before the WTC final. When you go into the Test match as big as this and remember there are no second chances, unlike a series, it is important you are prepared well,” he added.

Fascinating Action on Cards

It won’t be wrong to say that the Aussies hold a slight edge over India. The likes of Marnus Labuschagne & Steven Smith played county cricket and most importantly the lethal speedster Mitchell Starc too opted out of IPL 2023 and would be roaring to make a mark that he is not done yet.

The question for Men in Blue is that can the likes of Shami & Siraj dictate the terms with the red ball after a grueling IPL 2023. India have got the experience of playing WTC final when they made a mistake by naming 2 spinners Ashwin & Jadeja in the playing 11 under the regime of the then head coach & former skipper Virat Kohli.
