ICC World Test Championship 2023-25: “WTC Finals Have Always Been Held In England But England Have Never Qualified” – Wasim Jaffer On ICC’s Scheduling Seemingly Favoring India

World Test Championships which commenced in 2021 in England and the first edition was between New Zealand and India. Kiwis had the upper hand in the end and won the inaugural World Test Championship (WTC). The next edition was between Australia and India and once again India lost the final and remained runners-up. Since two editions of the World Test Championship were held in England many people have raised questions about whether England is the only place where it can be held other neutral venues also exist.

Wasim Jaffer taunts England

Former India opener Wasim Jaffer taunts England for not qualifying single being the host country for the World Test Championships for two editions. England was the first team who resume their campaign as soon as the lockdown stopped. They played with one mentality bazball which turned out a hit-and-flop show and so now they are struggling in test cricket. Brendon McCullum and skipper Ben Stokes who haven’t lost a single series in Asia region got thrashed by India in India by 4-1. Wasim Jaffer says:

“It’s one thing to know where your SF will be played, it’s another thing to qualify for it. For example WTC Final have always been held in England but England have never qualified ,” Jaffer said on X, while responding to a post from Wisden India listing some questions over the scheduling.

The third edition is now slated to be hosted by Lord’s next year. Currently, India holds the top position of the points table if India qualifies for yet another World Test Championship it will be their third appearance in a row.
