ICC Women’s ODI WC 2025: Alyssa Healy Pummels Bangladesh

Australia cricket team secured a commanding victory against Bangladesh in the ICC Women’s Cricket.  Alyssa Healy was the destroyer in chief as she scored 133 runs in 77 balls. With this win, they booked their place in the semi-finals of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 with an outstanding 10-wicket win over Bangladesh on Thursday.

In the first innings, Bangladesh went to bat first after winning the toss. Sobhana Mostary played a determined innings that took Bangladesh to 198/9 against Australia. She remained unbeaten on 66 off 80 balls, with nine boundaries, and added runs in the death overs to take Bangladesh to the 200 mark.

Rubya Haidar also delivered a crucial knock and contributed 44 off 59 balls after the steady start from the openers. Georgia Wareham(2/22) and Alana King(2/18) both took 2 wickets each; the batting lineup team struggled to maintain momentum after losing the wickets against Australia’s spinners.

Both Ashleigh Gardner and Annabel Sutherland claimed two wickets each, though their spell proved to be expensive. Megan Schutt bagged a wicket to her name as Australia tried to keep Bangladesh away from setting a huge target. She took the initial wicket of Farzana Haque after Bangladesh had a steady start by the openers.

Gardener claimed two quick wickets, leaving Bangladesh three wickets down by claiming the wicket of Haider, who scored a partnership of 41 runs with Sharmin Akter. Soon after, Gardener took Akhter’s wicket.

In the second innings, Australia chased the 199-run target set by Bangladesh without losing a wicket in 24.5 overs. Alyssa Healy played a superb innings with 133 runs off 77 balls. Alyssa Healy’s strike rate was high, and she chased the target seamlessly, while maintaining the momentum. Alyssa Healy’s knock was classy, stylish, and destructive.

Phoebe Litchfield scored 84/72 not out and showed a brilliant partnership with Alyssa Healy, and took Australia to its win. Bangladesh bowlers struggled to break the partnership between Alyssa Healy and Phoebe Litchfield. They delivered some decent spells, yet none resulted in breaking the flow of partnership set by the Australian players. Fielding proved to be costly, with lots of missed opportunities and limited pressure, helping Australia secure an easy win.

For Australia, this match was a way of showcasing their dominance after a record-breaking chase against India (331) and securing a position in the semi-finals. Bangladesh, on the other hand, despite delivering a promising performance, lapsed under high pressure and strong opposition.

Australia’s top batting order is in strong form, and their bowlers have the ability to be effective in different conditions with balanced fielding. They will showcase a confident performance in the knockouts.
