In the cricketing world, the World Cup is the biggest of all occasions. And big occasions demand the biggest of names. So, it was no surprise when talisman batter, Virat Kohli‘s name popped up for the upcoming T20 World Cup, to be held in the United States and the Caribbean starting in June.

However, there is a lingering concern for the fans regarding the low strike rate of Virat Kohli in the T20 format, which calls for an explosive impact right from the start. We should not forget that Virat Kohli is one of the prolific batters in ICC T20 championships and he along with Rohit Sharma can formulate strategies in tricky phases of the match.

You need experience- Ajit Agarkar’s massive statement on Virat Kohli

Ajit Agarkar, BCCI Chairman doesn’t bother about the claims made on Virat Kohli‘s strike rate. He illuminates that there should be no concern regarding his strike rate because it is the experience that matters the most when clashing against premier teams on the biggest platforms.

Ajit Agarkar stated:

“We have not been discussing his strike rate. There’s difference between IPL and international cricket. You need experience. We have got enough balance and power in the team. You look and try take positives from what is happening in the IPL. The pressure of a World Cup game is different.”

And when it comes to taking pressure at the most crucial moments, ‘King’ Kohli never seems to disappoint.

Kohli can adapt himself well on big occasions. The talisman batter carved a historic moment in the ODI World Cup last year, concluding his reign of huge 765 runs in 11 innings at an alarming average of 95.62, documenting the highest score in a single ODI World Cup edition.

Virat Kohli’s performance in the short formats cannot be underestimated just by having someone question and criticize his strike rate. During India’s 2022 T20 World Cup campaign, it was Virat who sparkled the brightest, bagging a whopping 296 runs in just 6 innings at an average of 96.67.

Despite RCB’s struggle to move up in the points table, Kohli is still shinning with his bat, having registered 500 runs in 10 innings at an average of 71.63 and strike rate of 147.79, lying behind CSK’s Gaikwad for the Orange Cap.
