Veteran cricketer Ahmed Shahzad of Pakistan has praised Virat Kohli as a legend and stated that Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, should not be compared to the legendary Indian player. During India’s 2024 T20 World Cup group match, in which they defeated Pakistan by 6 runs to win the tournament, Babar and Virat crossed paths.

Before ending his T20I career, Virat Kohli—who was named Player of the Match in the final surpassed Babar on the list of T20I run scorers and matched the Pakistan captain’s record for the most fifty-plus scores in T20Is. Virat Kohli was going through a lean patch before the finals. People raised their eyebrows over his place in the T20 format.

Virat has been a match-winner for Team India under Rohit Sharma’s Captaincy. He has played many impactful knocks for Team India over the years and has won matches single-handedly for the nation.

Virat Kohli Is A Champion

Ahmed Shehzad speaking on Virat Kohli, he said :

“Virat Kohli is a legend of our generation. Every time he stepped on the field, he played the game with the same enthusiasm. Even in his last T20I, Virat was celebrating at long-on and long-off whenever a wicket fell. He did not score runs in the entire T20 World Cup, but when things are written in your destiny, you will get them.”

“He scored runs in the final when nobody else stood up with the bat. India would never have won the T20 World Cup final without Virat Kohli’s innings. He is leaving a great legacy in the T20Is. Good luck to Indian Cricket trying to fill his massive shoes. No one should compare Babar Azam or any other cricketer to him,” Ahmed Shahzad told reporters in Abu Dhabi.

Opening the innings for India with skipper Rohit Sharma, Kohli had a difficult tournament. He did not reach fifty in the preceding matches, but in the pivotal final, he performed admirably, bringing the innings back from early blows and assisting India to a competitive total. One of the game’s most remarkable players, Kohli struck an astounding 76 in the end after India’s top order collapsed in the Powerplay.

His significant innings contributed to India’s 176/7 total. Following that, the Indian seamers gave a valiant display, winning by a slim margin and breaking their nation’s 11-year drought for an ICC title. Virat Kohli made the announcement that he would be retiring from Twenty20 Internationals shortly after India won the T20 World Cup in Bridgetown on Saturday afternoon.

Kohli is anticipated to concentrate on red-ball cricket going forward. A legendary player in Test cricket, Kohli has scored 8,848 runs, 29 centuries included in his total. India defeated South Africa by an innings and 137 runs in the 2019 World Test Championship, when he scored his highest score of 254 not out.
