ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 India will face England in the semi-final at Guyana. India is still unbeaten in this tournament as they have a golden chance to qualify for finals and also have a chance to sideline England. India dethroned Australia by 24 runs and it was Rohit Sharma who stole the show with the bat. India completes their revenge with Australia now it is time to take England on their shoulders.

Paul Collingwood wants India to win

Former England skipper Paul Collingwood is desperate for India should win this semi-final clash and qualify for the final. India has remained unbeaten in this World Cup and they have shown their class against each team and no one had an answer to defeat them. Bowlers are very consistent and remain on top while defending the totals, Arshdeep Singh is the leading wicket-taker for India while Jasprit Bumrah is on a roll his economical bowling has stunned everyone even on difficult pitches in New York. India will look to bounce back against England and will complete their revenge in the 2022 semi-final. Paul Collingwood said:

“Honestly, I can’t see India losing this time. England will need something extraordinary to beat them. India, with their well-rounded squad, stands out particularly for Jasprit Bumrah’s current form. He’s fit, accurate, fast, and highly skilled. No team seems to have an answer for him,” said Collingwood.

“In a 120-ball game, having someone like Bumrah with his pace for 24 balls makes a huge difference. India has looked confident even in tough situations and on difficult pitches in America,” he added.

Hardik Pandya also shined as an all-rounder which helped India to win matches. Paul Collingwood further also mentioned that this clash will go hand-in-hand and it will get tough to predict the winner as England too has shown their champion performance. Paul Collingwood said:

“The match-up will be magnificent, with both sides adopting an ultra-aggressive approach. The surface in Guyana will be crucial. On a flat pitch, England has the upper hand with their ability to overpower teams. However, a slow, turning pitch would favor India,” said Collingwood.

“In 2022, when India batted first, we knew we could restrict them. Back then, India played conservatively, especially in the first 10 overs, and then tried to catch up later. But India’s approach has changed. They understand that this strategy won’t win World Cups. They need to take risks, be brave, and express themselves freely. This new mentality might be criticized if it fails, but to win World Cups, you need to be ahead of the curve and adapt to what other teams are doing globally,” concluded Collingwood.

So, this match will be worth watching and everyone will enjoy this clash very much but at the same time, both team’s eyes will be on the finals.
