Rajasthan Royals (RR) youngster Riyan Parag has been open-minded about idolizing Virat Kohli and his wish to win games for his team just like Kohli. One important thing Riyan is learning from the veteran is the ability to control the instinct for the team.

Virat Kohli has been termed as the ‘Chasemaster’ as he took his team above the line many times. Riyan highlighted the way the former Indian captain kept his focus at team requirements and controlled his temptation to smash boundaries at his will.

Virat Kohli is a completely different person altogether- Riyan Parag

Having a conversation on The Ranveer Show podcast, this is what the latter had to say about Virat Kohli‘s control over his mind:

“He is a completely different person altogether. I think now that the stage he is in, he is in complete control. It is a very tough thing to do in cricket to be in control of your game. When you hit a six and 40,000 people cheer, it is difficult to control. You know you can hit the next ball for six, but then the team doesn’t require it. He doesn’t give in to temptations,”

Riyan Parag acknowledged himself for the outstanding display of performance with his bat in the IPL 2024 edition but also admitted his mistake of attempting rash shots for couple of times. The 22-year-old believes that having control of your mind in tough situations is a mastery he is not yet used to.

Virat Kohli had recently spoken about criticism and external noise

Virat maintained his calm when he was severely criticized for his seemingly low strike rate. During the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Virat Kohli disclosed his ability to win games over the year and how he deals with external obstacles.

Virat mentioned:

“I know what I can do on the ground. For that, I don’t need to tell anyone what kind of a player I am or show what ability I have. I never went and asked someone how to win games for my team. Over the years, I had been in those situations and only after failing several times did I master the art. If I am winning matches regularly that’s not every time it happens just by chance,”

Virat Kohli won the Orange Cap in the IPL 2024 after securing a staggering 741 runs. It would be a wise decision to use Kohli as the opener in the T20 World Cup campaign.
