ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 West Indies remain unbeaten as they defeat Afghanistan with a huge margin of 104 runs in the last group stage match. Nicholas Pooran was the hero of the match as he scored 98 runs.

Afghanistan had a great campaign and so they proved why they are the most prominent team in the world. Afghanistan defeated New Zealand which was one of the teams who could be in Super 8 bowling was a positive sign and the batters too contributed well.

Rashid Khan speaks on loss and India’s challenge

Afghanistan lost to the West Indies by a huge margin and so they felt bad after the match, both teams were unbeaten but it was Afghanistan who suffered the loss. Afghanistan skipper Rashid Khan reviews the loss of the match and also sheds light upon the India challenge. Rashid Khan said:

“The way they batted, scoring around 90 runs in the powerplay, it is tough to come back from that. But in the middle overs, we did well and it was good to restrict them under 200. This game is good for understanding mindset and strategy. Hope to not repeat,” Rashid said after the match.

“We take the positives with us, like fielding, middle-overs bowling, and Noor’s spell,” he added.

“We’re looking forward to the challenge against India. The defeat against West Indies gave us valuable lessons, and we’re ready to implement those learnings in the Super 8. We’ve achieved what we wanted – to get Super Eight. The different pitches coming up… we’ll adjust to them. Good learning this loss happened at this stage, not in a do-or-die game,” said Rashid.

Afghanistan is in Group 1 sharing with India, Australia, and Bangladesh. Afghanistan needs to stick with its plans and no such changes are needed as they have been familiar with the conditions after playing 4 group stage matches so no concern as of now but the challenge with not just India another team will also give a tough fight.
