Australia’s sensational left handed batter Travis Head got injured in the South African ODI series. In a short span of time, Travis Head has become an inseparable part of the team and is quite bold in his approach. It won’t be wrong to say that because of Travis Head there is no added pressure on David Warner.
All eyes will be on Mitchell Marsh, the swashbuckling right-handed batter who is expected to open the batting in the absence of Travis Head Mitchell Marsh has got brute power as his mishits also clear the fence. At the same time he can also play the role of 6th bowler for the team,
There’s no doubt Travis Head won’t be available for the front half- Andrew McDonald
Andrew McDonald was having an interaction with Perth Now. Andrew McDonald stated that Travis Head won’t require surgery and made it clear that the dangerous left handed batter won’t be available for the first half of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Andrew McDonald was quite optimistic that Travis Head would play some matches in ODI WC 2023.
“The time frame is still a little bit loose. The good news is he doesn’t require surgery, as it stands at the moment. There will be an extended period of time out and we’ve got to weigh up whether that time falls potentially with an option to carry him through the front half of the World Cup. There’s no doubt he won’t be available for the front half,” said Andrew McDonald.
Great chance for Australia
The mighty Aussies have got 5 players: Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, David Warner & Steve Smith who were the part of the glorious ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 triumph. These 5 players are in sublime form and it won’t be a surprise if Australia win 2023 ODI WC.
Skipper Pat Cummins had mentioned in one of his interviews that Aussies would rotate the skippers i.e. the likes of Josh Hazlewood, Steve Smith & Alex Carey would lead the side one by one in order to manage the workload of the skipper. These strategy can backfire as split captaincy hasn’t quite worked in the ODI format.
