India’s stylish right-handed batter Shubman Gill is in the form of his life. Shubman Gill had a terrific Asia Cup 2023 and the way he dismantled Pakistan’s bowling lineup was a treat to watch. Shubman’s attacking gameplan takes the pressure off the skipper Rohit Sharma.
The management has got happy headaches ahead of the first match against Australia. It would be interesting to see which batter Ishan Kishan or Shreyas Iyer gets the nod for the high-voltage clash. Rohit Sharma perhaps might bring the left-handed batter Ishan Kishan into the combination who has got similar traits to Rishabh Pant.
I feel Shubman Gill will score at least two hundreds- Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra was seen speaking on his You Tube channel. Aakash Chopra made a bold statement that the ICC ODI WC 2023 could be of Shubman Gill and said that Gill will score a lot of runs. Aakash Chopra pointed out that Shubman Gill can be the ‘X’ factor for India in the marquee ODI WC 2023.
“This tournament could be Shubman Gill’s. In all fairness, the tournament will belong to the top three batters. The good ones will make a lot of records. Shubman Gill will score a lot of runs. I feel he will score at least two hundreds; I won’t be surprised if he hits three as well. One of them could be a daddy hundred if he doesn’t get tired. Gill is a quality player and this World Cup could be his,” said Aakash Chopra.
“At one point of time, it seemed like he gets stuck against left-arm spin. But he showed he can take that on as well during his last hundred in the Asia Cup. It was his best ODI knock in my opinion,” he added.
Steep road ahead for India
Head coach Rahul Dravid would be aware of the fact that India needs to win 5-6 matches out of 9 to stake their claim in the ODI WC semi finalists. The side cannot take any opponent lightly even the mighty Dutch who have looked impeccable in all the 3 departments of the game.
All eyes will be on the batting duo of Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma who will not only have to do the bulk of scoring but will have too bat deep as their dismissals are quite decisive in the contest. Virat Kohli would be tested as the skipper Rohit Sharma is quite vulnerable in the powerplay overs.
