ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: Shane Watson Backs Marnus Labuschagne’s Inclusion For Semi Final Clash Against South Africa

The Australian cricket team slowly has started to peak at the perfect time in the championship. Australia finished on 3rd position in the points table with 7 wins from 9 matches. Australia’s premier batter Marnus Labuschagne has been the talking point for Aussies. Marnus Labuschagne has shown that the can play the waiting game which is priceless in the modern cricket.

Aussies though can’t afford to take South Africa lightly as the Proteas have the knack of finding match winners on the given day. It won’t be wrong to say that South Africa holds an edge over Australia as they have got quality spin attack present in the form of Tabraiz Shamsi & Keshav Maharaj.

All eyes will be on the wicket-keeper left handed batter Quinton de Kock who will bid adieu to the format after the completion of the tournament. Quinton has looked like a man on a mission as he has disturbed the bowler with his range of shots.

Shane Watson was having an interaction with Star Sports. Sane Watson stated that Marnus Labuschagne can prove to be match winner in the pinnacle clash against South Africa on 16th November. Shane Watson pointed out that Marnus Labuschagne has the ability to handle a moving a ball which is priceless.

“He’s someone who has done a very good job for Australia throughout this World Cup, and as well Marcus Stoinis hasn’t set this World Cup alight yet. What we’ve seen in this World Cup, is if Australia end up batting second in a semifinal, that period with those two new balls swinging around, you do need your best technically equipped batters who can handle that moving ball,” said Shane Watson.

“Marnus Labuschagne, with the Test skills, he’s got the ability to be able to handle a moving ball. There is a chance that Australia will have to bat second under lights, and he’s done a very good job of that throughout this tournament,”  he stated.
