England cricket team would be crestfallen with their performance against New Zealand in the opening clash of ODI WC 2023. Aakash Chopra was quite furious on the Jos Buttler-led side after their disastrous performance in the match. Aakash Chopra pointed out that England was a slight favorite but New Zealand had another plan for the champions.

New Zealand would be over the moon after dismantling England and now they have made a statement that they are a team to beat. We should n0t forget that the skipper & star batter Kane Williamson wasn’t a part of the playing 11 who is still nursing his knee injury and despite his absence, the team registered a thumping victory over the opposition.

It looked like New Zealand took revenge for the 2019 World Cup final loss- Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra was seen speaking on his YouTube channel. Aakash Chopra made a bold statement that New Zealand annihilated the opposition and said that New Zealand made Britishers look ordinary. Aakash Chopra stated that England’s batters played poor shots which cost them the match.

“It looked like New Zealand took revenge for the 2019 World Cup final loss. I mean, they completely dominated the opposition. England started as one of the favorites, but New Zealand made them look so ordinary,” said Aakash Chopra.

“What are you doing, England? It looked like they expected their reputation to do all the work. They wanted to play aggressive cricket, but it did not transpire on the ground at all. I saw so many poor shots towards the end, take Joe Root’s and Moeen Ali’s dismissal as example,” he added.

Ecstasy for New Zealand

A lot of experts questioned New Zealand’s decision to bowl first against a long & threatening England’s batting line up. But the likes of Trent Boult & Matt Henry bowled immaculate line & length and cramped the batter for room and took key wickets.

England would be keen to bounce back strongly as another 30-40 odd runs would have made the difference in the end for the ODI WC champions. The pitch didn’t have any significant demons in it as England’s shot selection was highly questionable.
