Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has been struggling with his form and finding his tempo in the ICC World Cup 2023. Babar Azam just scored half a century in the tournament against India, but we haven’t seen his best. Even after scoring a half century, his rhythm was missing, and on his bad form, the former Indian opener wants him to take more responsibility as skipper and play a bit more aggressively.

As a team, they have struggled; their bowling looked cold, so their fielding and their batting is more dependable on Mohammed Rizwan in the tournament so far. Gautam Gambhir shared some suggestions for the men in green and their skipper, Babar Azam.
Babar Azam is one of the best batters in white-ball batsman in the world; there is no debate about the point. He has been struggling to get his rhythm in the ICC World Cup 2023 so far. He has scored only one fifty-plus, but he could not convert it into a big one, which resulted in Pakistan bowled out without crossing 200. In the first two matches, he failed to score runs, and Pakistan felt trouble. Some individual batting performances helped them win the matches. Hopefully, the skipper finds his form and runs as fluently as he usually does.
In his latest interview with Sportskeeda, here is what he suggested to Babar Azam:

“Pakistan has a history of attacking batters; they had batters like Shahid Afridi, Imran Nazir, Saeed Anwar, and Aamir Sohail. In the present top three, everyone bats in a similar fashion. If someone has to take responsibility for playing with intent, it has to be their skipper, Babar Azam, who bats at No. 3,” said Gautam Gambhir.
“There is no point in looking at statistics at all. You may become Pakistan’s leading run-getter, but a legacy is created by winning big tournaments, not individual records, for sure. Wasim Akram picked up three wickets in the 1992 World Cup final,” he stated.
“He did not pick up five wickets, but everybody talks about it because they won that World Cup. Nobody talks about Mahela Jayawardene’s century in the 2011 final. Everyone remembers that India won the match and the World Cup in 2011,” he added.
