Australia’s dashing batter Marnus Labuschagne made the most of the South African ODI series. Marnus Labuschagne helped Aussies to win the 1st ODI when the team was almost done & out. Marnus Labuschagne has shown that he can also play the fearless brand of cricket.

The duo of Steve Smith & David Warner will have to grind the bowlers as the middle order may have pinch hitters but the likes of Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis and Cameron Green can’t take the team out of the muddle which can ruin Australia’s chances of winning ODI WC 2023.

There’s no doubt that Marnus Labuschagne will be the front-runner to the 15-man squad- Andrew McDonald

Australia’s head coach Andrew McDonald was having an interaction with Perth Now. Andrew McDonald made it very clear that he can’t comment on whether Marnus Labuschagne would be a part of the ODI WC 2023 squad or not. Andrew McDonald also was impressed with the rise of Marnus Labuschagne.

“I can’t talk on behalf of the selection panel and lock him away for the World Cup (squad of) 15 but it’s no doubt looking likely. I think he’s made a significant shift in his intent at the crease and putting the bowlers under pressure from where he was 12 months ago. There’s no doubt he’ll be front-and-center when it comes to the 15-man squad later on down the track,” said Andrew McDonald.

Steep Road ahead for Australia

Aussies may sound red hot favorites, but they have a very bad habit of falling like a pack of cards. We witnessed in the recently concluded South Africa’s ODI series where their batters succumbed to pressure. The management should stick to one combination rather than playing musical chairs.

All eyes will be on David Warner, the left handed batter showed a lot of promise in the start of South Africa ODI series; but later in the last 3 ODIs the batter played a lot of rash shots and it seemed he was in a hurry to dictate the terms which hurt the team immensely.
