England Cricket Board (ECB) surprisingly left out the dynamic batter Harry Brook from the provisional squad of the ODI WC 2023. Harry Brook doesn’t have encouraging numbers behind him but can play the role of a basher in the middle order along with the flamboyant all-rounder Ben Stokes.
Harry Brook can be seen opening the batting for England against New Zealand in the 4 match ODI series. The batter isn’t been able to dictate the terms and has looked scratchy. Brook perhaps needs to use the crease against the pacers which would disturb their line & length.

Simon Doull was having an interaction with Wisden and said that Harry Brook could be a dangerous batter for ODI WC. Simon Doull astonishingly said that he would leave out the seasoned campaigner Jason Roy and include Harry Brook.
“I can understand why they haven’t picked him. Would he be in my 15? Absolutely. They’re looking at loyalty, so I get why they’ve done it, but he would be in my side. If he was in my side I’d leave Jason Roy out of it,” said Simon Doull.
“I don’t like to hear people say he should be there without a reason or someone that they’re going to drop. You can’t just say he must be in the side and not leave someone out so, you’ve got to name who you’re leaving out as well,” he added.
Critical ODI Series for Harry Brook
Harry Brook would be aiming to get a big score under his belt in the remaining 2 ODIs against New Zealand. It looks unlikely that the management would change the batting position of Brook for the last 2 ODIs as the batter has shown promise and now should trust his instincts and play fearless brand of cricket.
England skipper Jos Buttler would be hoping that the side clicks as a unit as there are hardly any ODIs left before the title defense. The management would be considering promoting Moeen Ali up the order at No.3 position as the stalwart Joe Root unexpectedly is going through a rough patch.
