England’s red ball head coach Brendon McCullum is often termed to have changed the face of Test cricket. Brendon McCullum though has made some interesting comments on England’s disastrous performance against Afghanistan in the ODI WC 2023 which shook the World Cricket.

England will have to bring back the star duo of Moeen Ali & Ben Stokes back into the playing 11. Head coach Matt Mott & skipper Jos Buttler will have to stick to one combination rather than frequent chopping and changing which disturbs the team’s dynamics.

England just need to stay true to their method- Brendon McCullum

Brendon McCullum, England cricket team’s red ball head coach was having an interaction with Mirror Sport. Brendon McCullum pointed out that England will have to play smartly and was quite sure that the side would bounce back strongly given how they have won 2 recent WCs.

“They just need to stay true to their method and their style which has brought them so much success and not get shaken by the odd bad day at the office. Of course, the boys would have liked to be 3 and 0, but sport doesn’t work like that and sometimes you have to cope with challenges and then show how good you are,” said Brendon McCullum.

“One thing is for sure, there are good reasons why England have won two World Cups recently. They are doing a great job and have done so for a long time and I’m just looking forward to seeing them show their quality over the next few weeks,” he added.

Brendon McCullum was quite nonchalant and said that such type of upsets are bound to happen. Brendon McCullum gave the example of the Dutch beating South Africa in ODI WC 2023. Brendon McCullum was quite optimistic that England would come back stronger in ODI WC 2023

“It is a World Cup, so there is going to be the odd upset and that is what you want in a tournament like this. Look at what happened to South Africa. That was a strong win from the Dutch and there will be other unexpected results before the tournament is over,” said Brendon McCullum.

“Playing cricket in India against the nine other top nations in a World Cup is never going to be a walk in the park, but this is what they boys play the game for. This is what gets them excited and I’m sure that we will see the best of them soon enough,” he added.
