KL Rahul has been brilliant since playing in the middle order for Team India. KL Rahul has been batting in some red-hot form since his return to the side after injury. He batted at number four in the Asia Cup 2023 and was forced to bat at number five against Australia. He feels it’s not a big deal to bat at five or four if the team needs it.

KL Rahul started his career as an opener in 2016 against Zimbabwe and bagged a century on debut, but after some time with the entry of Shikhar Dhawan, he had to play in the middle order. He established himself as an asset for the team in the middle as well, and he has been the most trustworthy batter for the side in the last few years.

Kl Rahul is one of the most dependable and complete batsmen in the team India; he is a team man. He has done really well in his entire career. While opening the inning for India, he had an average over 43, but he was dragged down to the middle to make the middle order reliable for winning the matches.

So far, the dashing batter has played his part very nicely, having an average of 60 at 4 and over 55 at number five. We saw his promising performance in the Asia Cup and against Australia. I’m hoping he can do the same in the World Cup in 2023.

Dropping at No.5 seemed very different- KL Rahul

KL Rahul was having an interaction with Jio Cinema. KL Rahul stated that his role in the team over the past couple of years has been to bat in the middle order. KL Rahul pointed out that he has made technical changes to his game to take risks in a particular scenario of the match.

“Batting at four and five does not feel like a huge difference. But yes, having opened the batting cage all my life, dropping to number five seemed very different. I have been given that role for the last couple of years by the team management, and I have played in that position for a long time. So, I understand well the changes I have to make technically and mentally and when to take risks in the game.”

“Also, I had some time away from the game, so I went back and saw a couple of videos of players who were amazing and had done really well in the middle order and how they threaded their innings. So, when I go into the middle, I assess the conditions and execute the best that I can for my team,” he said.
