Bangladesh’s national cricket team would be banking on the fitness of Shakib-Al-Hasan for the high voltage clash. Shakib-Al-Hasan is one of the few members of the 2007 ODI WC squad that had dethroned the Indian star-studded side.
Bangladesh hasn’t been able to assert its dominance in the ODI WC 2023. Bangladesh has lost 2 matches out of 3 in the ODI WC 2023 and is placed at 6th position on the points table with an NRR of -0.699. Bangladesh needs someone apart from the duo of Shakib & Rahim to take responsibility and score runs.
Shakib-al-Hasan’s fitness is concerning- Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra was seen speaking on his You Tube channel and was unsure whether the Bangladeshi skipper Shakib-Al-Hasan would be available to take part against India clash. Aakash Chopra pointed out that Shakib is Bangladesh’s team’s life.
“Shakib Al Hasan’s fitness is concerning. It’s not sure whether he will be available for this match or not. If he is unavailable, the problems will become grave because Shakib Al Hasan is this team’s life,” said Aakash Chopra.
“They need his bowling. India’s numbers are not that good against left-arm spin. They need his runs and captaincy. Shakib’s availability might actually be the deal clincher. If Shakib isn’t there, it could become a hugely one-sided encounter,” he added.
Bangladesh has decent fast bowling- Aakash Chopra
Aakash Chopra stated that Mushfiqur Rahim needs to bat a bit up the order. Aakash Chopra was quite sure that Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman & Taskin Ahmed can disturb India’s batters in the crucial contest.
“If we see the top order, the two openers haven’t done that well. Litton Das has played well once. You have lost two of your three matches. Mushfiqur scores runs, he is like a bank, but they are not gaining too much from that because the team is not doing that well collectively,” said Aakash Chopra.
“This team has decent fast bowling. You will see Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed. Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s off-spin will not work that much on this pitch and Shakib Al Hasan will bowl defensively, but the three fast bowlers can trouble India,” he added.
