Shubman Gill is the name that is known on every street in India. He has been an excellent player for the team in white ball since his debut, and he has been carrying the highest average in the ODI format. Shubman Gill has shown that he can also play the waiting game as well which is priceless in modern cricket.

AB de Villiers pointed out that there are some exceptions like Steve Smith and said that Gill has a very straightforward technique.
“Shubman Gill will be the highest run scorer in the 2023 World Cup. He is in such great form. I was always going to go with an opening batter; at the very worst, it would be a number three batter. I think he is in such form that it would be silly of me to overlook him. He is a great player and has fantastic technique. He is playing in India; yes, there will be pressure, but Shubman Gill is my pick,” said AB de Villiers.
“Shubman Gill’s style and technique are quite simple and pretty basic, as you would generally say for some of the best players around. You get some exceptions, like Steve Smith from Australia. Shubman Gill is much more conventional, has a very straightforward technique, and doesn’t try a lot of different things in batting. He can change the gears and put a lot of pressure on the bowlers,” he added.
“Shubman Gill has this incredible ability to pick up the length very early; you see that with some of the best players. Shubman is very quickly becoming one of them, one of the best players in all the forms of the game. Very exciting young talent. He is still young but looks like an experienced campaigner already,” he concluded.
