England’s national cricket team had a forgettable outing against New Zealand in the opening clash of ODI WC 2023. Eoin Morgan was quite furious on the English side for their terrible performance. Eoin Morgan said that the bowlers lacked a game plan against the duo of Devon Conway & Rachin Ravindra.
Rachin Ravindra & Devon Conway struck barnstorming tons against England and it seemed as if the batters were toying with the bowling unit as all the variations were proving to be ineffective. New Zealand would be buoyed by their performance as they hammered England in all the 3 departments of the game.
England looked undercooked- Eoin Morgan
England’s 2019 World Cup-winning captain Eoin Morgan was having an interaction with Sky Sports post the game. Eoin Morgan pointed out that the Jos Buttler-led side was so off the mark. Eoin Morgan pointed out that the bowlers bowled on both sides of the wicket which wasn’t ideal by any stretch of imagination.
“They were so far off the mark. With the ball, they looked undercooked. They bowled both sides of the wicket which is not ideal by any stretch of the imagination. A really disappointing day,” said Eoin Morgan.
Perfect day for Black Caps
New Zealand’s bowlers had gameplan for every batter and seemed on a mission. The interim skipper Tom Latham marshalled his troops smartly as his attacking tactics were spot on. Tom Latham rotated Trent Boult smartly as the dismissal of Liam Livingstone was a treat to watch.
New Zealand have made a statement that they are here in India to win the ODI WC 2023 and are by no means the under-dogs for the marquee tournament. All eyes will be on Kane Williamson as the batter is expected to feature against Netherlands on Monday 09th October.
