South African fans would be buoyed by their side’s performance in the recently concluded ODI series against Australia. The South African national cricket team not only asserted their dominance in the decider 5th ODI, but they won the series after being 0-2 down and not many experts gave them a chance to bounce back.

The Proteas would be slightly disappointed as their wicket-keeper batter Quinton de Kock has decided to bid adieu to the ODI format post the marquee ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. Quinton de Kock is only 30 years of age and his decision shook the world of cricket as the batter has expressed his desire to play T20Is and franchise league cricket.

Never to say die attitude

Skipper Temba Bavuma who often is criticized for his tactics as well as his slow strike rate, silenced everyone by playing key knocks. We should not forget that Temba Bavuma applied attacking field placings and rotated the spinner Keshav Maharaj smartly as the left arm spinner is often said to be the bowler with a golden arm.

Heinrich Klaasen was in the beast mode in the 4th ODI as the batter had answers for all deliveries. Klaasen showed glimpses of the former flamboyant batter Herschelle Gibbs. There was carnage in the 4th ODI as it seemed that Klaasen wanted to make a statement that South Africa is not a finished product.

Exciting phase for South Africa

Not many know that South Africa were almost on the brink of missing out on direct qualification for ODI WC 2023. They had to beat the unpredictable Dutch (Netherlands) and somehow qualified for the championship. The inception of ICC World Super League did wonders for World cricket as the mighty Dutch qualified for ODI WC 2023 ahead of the 2 time World Cup winners West Indies.

South Africa’s peculiarity is that they have got an express pace attack in the form of Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada & Lungi Ngidi. The trio can create a havoc even on a flat surface and the entire nation would be hoping that Temba Bavuma gets his hands on the elusive trophy on 19th November 2023 (*final).
