Former Indian batter Aakash Chopra expressed that the dip in the performance of star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is a matter of concern for the team going into the 2023 World Cup. Ravindra Jadeja‘s performance as a batter at number seven has not been top-notch. Aakash Chopra explains his dipping stats in the ODI format.

Ravindra Jadeja has been a consistent member of the team for a long time and has performed very well throughout his international career, both with the bat and the ball. He has been India’s most valuable player for the last few years. But, for the last few months, he has not shown that promise at lower levels of the order, and the former batter feels it is not a good sign for Team India in the season of the World Cup.

When we talk about the World Cup 2023, the all-rounder has a vital role to play in the tournament for his team because he will be the leader of the spin department and will be playing at number seven, which is a tough position to play in, especially in the subcontinent.

Ravindra Jadeja performed really well in the last World Cup; nobody can forget his great inning in the semifinal against the Black Caps, where he almost pulled the game for India. Ravindra Jadeja looks in two minds whether to attack or defend due to which he has got into the shell.

The numbers are not in favor of Ravindra Jadeja- Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra was seen speaking on his You Tube channel and was not impressed with the way Ravindra Jadeja has fared with the bat in hand. Aakash Chopra was worried with the stats of Ravindra Jadeja post ODI WC 2019 and said that Jadeja is a very vital cog of the team.

“If we don’t count that innings of 45 not out, his average drops to 15. That is not a good story. He bats down the order at 7 or 8, but still, there are a lot of single-digit scores,” said Aakash Chopra.

“Another thing that is worrying is that Ravindra Jaded has played 243 balls in 2023 and has not hit a single six in those balls. This is a bit shocking. Hopefully, he could make it to the World Cup 2023 and where he is the vice-captain. But the numbers are not in his favor, and it has to change as Jadeja is a very vital cog,”
he added.
