England cricket team would be booming with confidence after thrashing New Zealand in the 3rd ODI as winning the match by 181 runs says a lot about the team’s dynamics. Jos Buttler would be pleased with the team’s performance as it was a near-perfect day for the hosts. Jos Buttler used attacking tactics while defending the mammoth target of 369 runs.

Ben Stokes played a turbulent knock of 182 runs in 124 balls and struck 15 fours and 9 huge sixes. The star all-rounder didn’t panic despite Trent Boult sending back Bairstow & Root back to the pavilion in the powerplay overs itself. Stokes took his time and against the spinners, he was quite ruthless and decimated the opponent.

Jos Buttler would be over the moon as the side not only has started to click but have announced their arrival to the World cricket when the ODI WC is  just steps away. We should not forget that Jason Roy isn’t a part of the squad and there are chances that Dawid Malan would be drafted into the middle order

Alarming signs for opposition teams

There are high chances that the lanky pacer Jofra Archer would be fit for ODI WC 2023 and can be added into the squad for the marquee championship. Archer was seen bowling ahead of the start of 3rd ODI match and if he is fully fit then he can give nightmares to the opposition teams.

England though don’t have encouraging numbers behind them since winning the ODI WC 2023 but they have shown that they can spoil the party on the given day. The Jos Buttler side have lost ODI series against Australia & South Africa and have a lot of loopholes in their team but their comeback in the 3rd ODI match against New Zealand has made them a dangerous unit again.

Head coach Matt Potts & skipper Jos Buttler would be considering promoting Moeen Ali up the order as the batter can play the role of pinch hitter as well as can provide stability in the middle overs phase. The problem with England is that their star batter Joe Root is not scoring runs and now the star batter needs to up the ante and perhaps take his time before playing fearless brand of cricket.

England have a long rally ahead of them if they want to retain the ODI WC 2023 but at the same time, their unpredictable nature is making them a team to beat. The side has got a deep batting line up and a lot of match winners and with ODI WC 2023 it won’t be wrong to say that Jos Buttler’s side once again are top contender to win WC 2023.
