ENG vs IND: Nasser Hussain Lauds KL Rahul for Gritty Hundred

The former English captain turned commentator, Nasser Hussain, has complimented right handed batter KL Rahul for his outstanding performance on the fourth day of Test match. KL Rahul scored 137 runs in 247 balls and hit 18 fours in his fine knock which played a key role in India’s resurgence.

KL Rahul is so elegant- Nasser Hussain

The former English captain Hussain has discussed his batting even under pressure in the ongoing test. He praised KL Rahul by saying,

“He is so elegant. Even when a ball goes past the outside edge, it doesn’t faze him too much. If you want to learn how to bat in English conditions, he is giving you a masterclass.”

Hussain also talks about Dinesh Karthik’s observation about the  Rahul and Pant pair and the pair’s way of batting. He said,

“Dinesh Karthik summed up this Rahul-Pant left hand-right hand partnership pretty well when he said classical music from one end and hip-hop from the other. The hip-hop, Pant, has toned it down after a (frenzied) period. He had a word with himself and has got into his innings now. He has a relatively sensible head on, and Rahul has always had a sensible head on.”

KL Rahul, in his test career, has earned 3257 runs out of 58 matches. He is also one of the opening batters in India who always smashed in the playground.

Brydon Carse was superb- Nasser Hussain

In speaking of England, he said that England should play more strategically against KL Rahul, as he can play from every corner. He added that,

“England has the option of going short to him for some time, like India did to Jamie Smith. Maybe that gets him out of his comfort zone and his shell, and he might make a mistake. I think England will be a little bit flat. It didn’t quite happen for them.” Nasser Hussain added about England.

“A few balls went up, but not in a particularly threatening way. Carse was superb, setting the tone in the first 45 minutes, but they probably needed two or three wickets to break the game open. India never got away, but England need to strike after lunch.”

Although in the 2nd innings, India has amassed 364 runs at 96 overs. On the other hand, on behalf of England, Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett are still on the field with 21/0.
