Bangladesh clashed against World Champion England in Dharamsala, and they got a big target to chase on the batting surface of Dharamsala. They could not even cross the 300-run mark and lost the match, and skipper Shakib Al Hasan feels they could not execute the batting in the right manner. Shakib Al Hasan perhaps needs to bat a bit more responsibly against the spinners

England was on top till the 40 overs, but Bangladesh pulled things back in the last ten overs. Although England scored a big total of 365 for the Bengal Tigers, they could not chase and bowled out 227. Bangladeshi Tigers looked clueless against the dangerous bowling lineup of England.

English batters started well on the batting surface of Dharamsala, and Root also joined the treat of scoring runs and looked fluent. Dawid Malan bagged his first ton (140) in the World Cup; Joe Root and Bairstow scored half centuries. England lost quick wickets at the back end of the inning, but they still managed a mammoth target of 365.

Bangladesh lost the top order very cheaply, but Litton Das looked nice with his half century; their four main batters could not score double figures. At the end, Bangladesh bowled out just 227 on the flat track, and Reece Topley picked up four wickets for England. David Malan was picked as player of the match for his stunning century.

Once England got the momentum, it was tough to control them- Shakib-Al-Hasan

During the post-match presentation, Shakib Al Hasan expressed that they could not execute the batting. Shakib-Al-Hasan also expressed that there was some help on the surface for the bowlers, and they were in control in the last ten overs.

“We planned really well, but we could not execute it right. The ball was swinging out there; we needed to put it in the right spots and build momentum. Once they got the momentum, it was tough to control them. I think in the position they were in, they could have scored some more runs, but we restricted them well at the end. But I think 320 would have been a decent total to chase here. It is a long tournament, we have a tough fixture coming up in Chennai, and New Zealand is playing well,” said Shakib-Al-Hasan.

“It was a good toss to win; there was some rain last night. There was some help for the faster bowlers, but we didn’t start well. When you give them a sniff, they will always come at us strong. We did well in the last 10 overs, but it will always be tough to chase 350,” he said.
