Du Plessis lost his wicket to Kagiso Rabada on a Full toss while trying to up the ante. Despite this, Devon Conway and Cody Chetty kept the scoreboard ticking, ending the powerplay on 46/1.

Rashid Khan, MI NY’s primary spinner, found himself at the receiving end of Devon Conway’s brilliance. Devon Conway’s calculated aggression saw him taking Rashid to the cleaners, delighting fans with his masterful shot selection. Unfortunately, Rashid managed to dismiss Devon Conway with a googly that crashed into his stumps, but not before the batsman had scored a brilliant 74 off 55 deliveries, including 8 boundaries and one maximum.

David Miller, too, contributed to the scoreboard but fell victim to Rabada after scoring a respectable 17 off 15 balls.

MITCHELL SANTNER THE FINISHER:

As TSK entered the final phase of their innings, the onus fell on Dwayne Bravo and Mitchell Santner to provide the finishing touches.

Dwayne Bravo’s failure with the bat put even more pressure on Santner, but the determined all-rounder rose to the occasion splendidly. Santner took on the challenge and showcased his explosive batting skills against Trent Boult and Kagiso Rabada. In a blazing display, he scored a quickfire 27 runs off just 13 deliveries, featuring one four and two mighty sixes. Santner’s fiery innings helped TSK reach a competitive total of 154/7 in their allotted 20 overs.

CAUTIOUS START FROM MI NY:

The innings began with an early setback for MI NY as they lost the wicket of Mohank Patel in just the second over. Despite this early blow, Shayan Jahangir and Steven Taylor adopted a careful approach to stabilize the innings. They played with patience and composure, steering the team to a respectable 32/1 at the end of the powerplay without any further casualties.

MI NY STAY IN THE CHASE COURTESY POORAN-JAHANGIR:

As the innings progressed, Taylor tried to accelerate the scoring rate but fell victim to Zia Ul Haq, departing for 15 runs off 21 balls. This brought Nicholas Pooran to the crease, who joined forces with Jahangir in an attempt to counterattack. They unleashed an impressive assault on Mohammed Mohsin taking 18 Runs in his Second Over . They Both had a Partnership of 37 runs in a mere 24 balls Which Kept MI NY firmly in the hunt.

However, cricket’s fickleness struck MI NY hard when a mix-up between Pooran and Jahangir resulted in the West Indian’s unfortunate run-out. This event proved to be the turning point as it triggered a collapse in MI NY’s batting order.

Their impeccable execution was further supported by outstanding fielding from Faf Du Plessis, who took sensational catches to build pressure on the opposition.

MI NY’s Chase was thwarted by TSK’s collective effort, and they eventually fell short by 17 runs as they finished at 137/8 in their 20 overs
