The much anticipated Asian Games T20I are all set to commence from 27th September. Astoundingly, the Ajit Agarkar led selection panel once again ignored Sanju Samson for the T20I tournament. Sanju Samson has shown that he has got a wide range of shots and can dismantle the opponent on the given day.

Ruturaj Gaikwad would lead the side and there are a lot of promising players present in the form of Rinku Singh & Yashasvi Jaiswal as we can expect a lot of fire-works. It won’t be wrong to say this young group of players can bury the opposition teams and India are sure shot favorites to clinch the trophy.

The lethal speedster Avesh Khan would be roaring to make a mark that he is not done yet. The pacer doesn’t have enough control over his line & length as a result he has been at the receiving end for most of the times. Arshdeep Singh has shown his mettle  in  T20I format and would be expected to lead the side.

Sanju Samson came very close to making the World Cup squad squad- Aakash Chopra

Aakash Chopra was seen speaking on his You Tube channel and was astonished to not see the name of Sanju Samson in the Asian Games 2023 squad. Aakash Chopra stated that Sanju Samson could have batted anywhere in the middle order and said that he deserves a chance.

“I am surprised and worried because Sanju Samson is not in the Asian Games team. He was in the Asia Cup [as a reserve], but now he is not in the team for the series against Australia as well. What I feel now is that Ishan Kishan won’t be seen opening,” said Aakash Chopra

“Shubman Gill will open with Ruturaj Gaikwad. Ishan Kishan will play in the middle order and the management will give him enough chances so that he can cement his place there,” he stated.

“I feel Sanju Samson’s name should be there in the Asian Games squad. Let him play somewhere. He can’t come into the World Cup squad, but to think that he is not good enough to play the Asian Games, that’s not right. He came very close to making the World Cup squad, so he definitely should have been in the Asian Games team. In fact, he could have been the captain as well,”  he added.
