Indian cricket team would be aiming to stamp their authority in the upcoming Asia Cup 2023. The selection panel astonishingly left out the sly leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal from the 17-member squad. Yuzvendra Chahal has been missing from the national setup for quite some time.
India is all set to clash against Pakistan on 2nd September as we can expect a cracker of a contest given how the teams fared in the previous Asia Cup edition as well as ICC events matches. The format may be different but India can’t take Pakistan lightly as the Asia Cup 2023 is termed to be the stepping stone for ODI WC 2023.
Yuzvendra Chahal can still come back- Sourav Ganguly
Sourav Ganguly was seen in the promotional event of Cycle Pure Agarbathi. The former BCCI President stated that Yuzvendra Chahal can still make a comeback to the national team for the marquee ODI WC 2023. Ganguly pointed out that Axar Patel has been given a nod ahead of Yuzvendra Chahal due to Axar’s batting prowess.
“The selection panel have picked Axar Patel ahead of Chahal because of his batting. So I think it’s a good selection. Chahal can still come back if someone gets injured. This is a 17-member squad, two, in any case, will have to move out,” said Sourav Ganguly.
Crucial Asia Cup 2023 for India
Head coach Rahul Dravid & skipper Rohit Sharma would be keen to prove a point that they are not a finished product after the failure in Asia Cup 2022 & T20 WC 2022. Rohit Sharma perhaps needs to be the bowler’s captain rather than yelling at them as this time the team can’t afford to give excuses.
In all this chaos, the star batter Virat Kohli once again will have to guide the batters in the middle overs phase. The middle order looks dangerous with the resurgence of KL Rahul & Shreyas Iyer but the team is too much reliant on Virat Kohli which is not a good sign as this has been happening since the last decade.
