Indian cricket team have been dealt with a massive blow as KL Rahul is ruled out for the opening 2 fixtures in the Asia Cup 2023 championship. KL Rahul isn’t 100% match fit but the Ajit Agarkar-led selection panel would be hoping that the batter gets some match practice ahead of the marquee ODI WC 2023 which is scheduled in October.
Once again the onus will be on the star batter Virat Kohli who now will have to bat responsibly and make sure that he sticks to the crease, especially in knock-out matches. Mohammad Kaif was having an interaction with Star Sports and was quite stunned to hear that KL Rahul won’t be available for selection for the first 2 games of the tournament. Mohammad Kaif pointed out that KL Rahul knows how to shift gears and made a huge statement that the side won’t get a replacement for KL Rahul even if they play Ishan Kishan.
“It means his injury could aggravate. If he is unfit now, there is no guarantee that he will be fit after two games. The news is not good for Indian fans because Rahul plays very well at No. 5 in ODIs. His stats are very good,” said Mohammad Kaif.
“KL Rahul knows how to shift gears, is able to play big shots, and knows how to stabilize innings. You won’t get a replacement even if you play Ishan Kishan. Apart from wicketkeeping, Rahul also provides a finishing touch,” he added.
