Jos Buttler, the captain of England’s white-ball team, complimented Yashasvi Jaiswal, the opening batsman for India, for scoring his second double century in the current five-match Test series. Jos Buttler was aware of Yashasvi Jaiswal’s potential for destruction. While beginning with Jaiswal at Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, the England white-ball captain had seen destruction.

Buttler gave credit for his strong work ethic and desire to succeed to his Rajasthan Royals (RR) teammate. It seems that ‘gifted’ Jaiswal is finally enjoying the rewards of his toil, according to the wicketkeeper-batter. In the second innings of the third Test, Jaiswal scored an undefeated 214 runs off 236 balls, a score that included 12 sixes and 14 boundaries.

In the second Test at Visakhapatnam, the left-handed batsman also hammered 209 off 290 deliveries, including seven sixes and 19 boundaries. After scoring 545 runs at an average of 109 across six innings in the five-match series, Jaiswal is currently the series’ top run scorer.

“Shame! He’s doing it against England”- Jos Buttler shared on his Instagram story

The crucial partnership between Sarfaraz Khan and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored for 172 runs off 158 balls, helped India set a goal of 557 runs, which was ultimately too much for the England team to achieve. The Ben Stokes-led England team lost embarrassingly by 434 runs after they were immediately swept out for 122 runs.

Fans, commentators, and players all praised the left-handed batter, but Buttler‘s remarks received extra notice because it was against his own national side. Buttler posted the following on his Instagram story on Sunday, February 18:

“Shame! He’s doing it against England, but very hard not to be so happy for Yashasvi Jaiswal. Getting everything he deserves from his talent. Hunger and work ethic. What a star!”

“I feel like whenever I am set, I need to make it big”- Yashasvi Jaiswal

Yashasvi Jaiswal stated that it is easier to play natural (attacking) strokes later in the innings, thus once he is set, he wants to score big. After being dismissed in the first Test match in Hyderabad due to an irresponsible shot at 84 runs, the youngster acknowledged the experienced players for their invaluable guidance.

He continued by saying that Ravindra Jadeja (112 off 225) and Rohit Sharma (131 off 196) were the sources of his motivation for his spectacular second innings on Sunday.

“I’m just trying to make it big whenever I’m set. In Test cricket, you never know. I try to make sure I play as long as I can when I’m set. It was pretty difficult, initially, I was not getting runs so I had to play the session and play the bowler. Then when I got set, I could score the runs,” Jaiswal during the post match show.

“I knew it was important for me to give the team a very good start, as we have seen it has a huge impact on the team. I feel like whenever I am set, I need to make it big. As all my seniors have said, when you are set, make it big, and make it count,” he added.

Jaiswal will now try to carry on his incredible form against England in the fourth Test, which will take place on February 23 at Ranchi’s JSCA Stadium. After winning the third Test by 434 runs, the home team now leads the series 2-1.
