After losing the Second ODI against West Indies, India bounced back in style and won yet another ODI series by 2-1 in West Indies. India won by 200 runs and extended their world record for winning the most consecutive ODI series against a team (West Indies). India, while batting first, set a target of 352 runs. While defending the total, India bowled out the West Indies for 151 runs.

Ishan Kishan, Shubman Gill, and Hardik Pandya shone with the bat, while Mukesh Kumar and Shardul Thakur led India to victory with their bowling. Additionally, the total of 351-5 was the highest ODI score for India without an individual century. Moreover, this was the highest total for India against WI in West Indies, surpassing 339/6 in Kingston in 2009. The match was played at the Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba.

Ishan Kishan, who has been awarded the Player of the Series Award, has been exceptionally good throughout the series. In the 3rd ODI, Ishan scored 77 runs off 64 balls with a strike rate of 120.3. He hit 8 fours and 3 sixes. Ishan Kishan got stumped out on the ball bowled by Yannic Cariah. Additionally, he brings his 3rd consecutive fifty in ODIs, all coming in this 3-match ODI series. Ishan Kishan scored a total of 184 runs in 3 innings with an average of 61.3.

Shubman Gill, while opening the innings with Ishan Kishan, brings up his 6th ODI half-century, scoring 85 runs off 92 balls, including 11 fours, with a strike rate of 92.3. He missed his ton by just 15 runs, getting out on the delivery of Gudakesh Motie. Shubman Gill has been awarded the Player of the Match.

India’s stand-in-captain, Hardik Pandya, also achieved his 10th fifty in ODI cricket. Hardik scored an unbeaten 70 runs in 52 balls with a strike rate of 134.6. His innings included 4 fours and 5 sixes. Sanju Samson also looked positive and aggressive throughout his innings, scoring 51 runs, which included 2 fours and 4 sixes.

Mukesh Kumar, who recently made his debut for India in ODIs, played a crucial role by taking 3 important wickets of Brandon King (0), Kyle Mayers (4), and Shai Hope (5) during the 3rd ODI. His bowling figures were 7-1-30-3. Shardul Thakur also impressed with his performance, taking 4 wickets with an economy rate of 5.7. He dismissed Shimron Hetmyer (4), Romario Shepherd (8), Alzarri Joseph (26), and Jayden Seales (1). Shardul’s bowling figures were 6.3-0-37-4. Kuldeep Yadav contributed to the wicket-taking as well, getting 2 dismissals of Alick Athanaze (32) and Yannic Cariah (19).

What’s Next for Both Teams?

Well, it’s time for a 20-over format game where West Indies will take on India in 5 T20I matches starting from 3rd August. The first T20 will be played at the same venue, Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, whereas the 2nd and 3rd T20Is will take place at the Providence Stadium, Guyana. The last two T20Is will be played in the USA’s Florida.

Hardik Pandya will lead Team India for this upcoming T20 series, whereas Rovman Powell will be the captain of the West Indies side. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will not feature in the T20I team, as the new, young-looking Indian team will face the tough challenge against the full-fledged Windies Team.
