Virat Kohli’s match-winning commitments and the physical standards he has set, in Aakash Chopra’s opinion, have had a significant influence on the game of cricket. Virat Kohli has amassed 26733 runs at a stellar 54.11 average in 522 international matches across every format. He has an even better record when it comes to India’s victories, Virat Kohli has amassed 17419 runs in 313 matches at an exceptional average of 66.23.

Aakash Chopra said that almost all other batting records belong to Kohli, regardless of his opinion that he might not be able to match Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 100 international hundreds. He went on to say that Virat performs best on pitches that are a little difficult and against good opposition, citing his achievements in South Africa, Australia, and even England following the 2014 tour.

Virat Kohli has had a massive impact- Aakash Chopra

In a video posted to his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra discussed some of the characteristics that make Kohli who he is. He emphasized the influence of the modern batting great on the game.

“If you have to judge a player’s greatness, there are three or four parameters. One in longevity. He is 35 and it seems like he can play for four more years. Then you see his impact on the game. He wins matches and makes an entire generation fit. He has had a massive impact,” he elaborated (16:00).

The former India opener further stated that his fellow Delhiite’s records speak for themselves.

“Another important aspect is how you adapt across three formats – he does that. Then, of course, the sheer records, the numbers. The numbers don’t lie about him – 50 ODI centuries, four double centuries in a year in Tests, nearly 1000 runs in an IPL season,” Chopra added.

Virat Kohli is the modern master and the chase master- Aakash Chopra

According to Aakash Chopra, Virat Kohli stands out because of his ability to plan run chases. Chopra reckon the term “chase master” formed during India’s Hobart match against Sri Lanka, where the team required a bonus point to advance.

“The one thing that defines him is the chase game. He is the modern master and the chase master. I feel the name ‘chase master’ was coined in the match against Sri Lanka in Hobart where India needed a bonus point to qualify. How well he hit Lasith Malinga and all the other bowlers,” he said (11:15).

The former cricket player and current commentator mentioned that one more instance of Kohli’s ability to chase the ball was his match winning knock in the 2022 T20 World Cup group encounter against Pakistan.

“There were other seniors in the team as well but the way Virat Kohli played made you realize that this guy is special and different. After that, he has been unstoppable in chases. You will remember the unbeaten 82-run knock against Pakistan,” he added.

In Chopra’s opinion, the former captain of India is extremely focused and quick to calculate when faced with a target. Kohli averages 65.49 in ODI chases and 71.85 in T20I chases.

  1. I loved even more than you will get done right here. The picture is nice, and your writing is stylish, but you seem to be rushing through it, and I think you should give it again soon. I’ll probably do that again and again if you protect this hike.
